Advocis Community Terms and Conditions

This site is provided as a service for the members of Advocis, The Financial Advisors Association of Canada (“Advocis”) as well as individuals who are currently enrolled in an educational program through Advocis.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials, and you assume all liability and responsibility for all activities that occur on your behalf in the Community. It is your responsibility to maintain the confidentiality of any password associated with your use of the Community.
Community Participation
By joining and participating in the Advocis Community, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to abide by these rules and guidelines. You also agree that all discussions, shared files, and content you post remain relevant to the purpose of this platform and appropriate for the medium.
All users who are members of Advocis are subject to the Code of Conduct laid out in the terms of their membership with Advocis. Individuals who are currently enrolled in an educational program through Advocis but are not members of Advocis are expected to abide by the spirit of this Code of Conduct. Advocis is committed to maintaining the accuracy, privacy and security of your personal information. All users are encouraged to review Advocis’ Privacy Policy to learn more about the personal information that Advocis collects from you or about you, and how we use and to whom we disclose that information.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Advocis Community immediately without any liability, for any reason upon notice or without notice, if in our sole judgment, you have violated these Terms and Conditions. We may also suspend or terminate your use of the Advocis Community, or condition your continued use on additional terms. If your continued use, in our sole judgment, poses an undue or disproportionate burden to the Advocis Community, or if your activity in the Advocis Community is disruptive or detrimental to other Community members or the security of the Advocis Community, your account may be cancelled, your employer or other organization that provided you with access to the Community may be notified, and you may be banned from future participation in the Advocis Community.
You may terminate your Advocis Community account at any time and for any reason by emailing us at communities@advocis.ca and asking us to delete your account.
Community Content Policy
Users are strictly prohibited from posting any material that is defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, illegal or otherwise offensive or contrary to the interests of Advocis or the Community. Additionally, do not post copyrighted content without proper authorization from the copyright holder.
Advocis is not responsible for the opinions, advice, or information posted by users in the Advocis Community. Content shared by members represents their own views and should not be taken as professional advice or the views of Advocis. All information and materials provided on this platform, whether created by Advocis or contributed by third parties, are offered “as is” without any warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. Advocis does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any information available through this platform. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Advocis shall not be liable for any special, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of use, data, or profits, arising from or related to the use or performance of content accessed on this platform.
Proprietary Rights and Use Restrictions
By submitting content to the Advocis Community, you represent that you own the rights to the material or have received the appropriate permissions from the copyright holder. You also grant Advocis and site users a non-exclusive license to display, reproduce, distribute, and use the content as needed.
Messages must not be posted if they encourage or facilitate agreements (whether explicit or implicit) among members that could lead to price fixing, boycotts, or any other activity intended to unlawfully restrict fair trade. Discussions that suggest or promote coordination on sensitive business topics are strictly prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to: pricing, discounts, terms or conditions of sale, compensation or salary information, profit margins or cost data, market allocation, customer or territory assignments, or decisions regarding suppliers or clients.
The Advocis Community may contain links to third party sites; such linked sites are not under our control and we are not responsible for the content of any linked site or any link contained in a linked site. We reserve the right to remove any links at any time at our sole discretion. If you decide to access any of the third-party sites linked to via the Advocis Community, you do so entirely at your own risk.
Content Moderation
Advocis may monitor the Advocis Community, either manually or through automated means, for inappropriate language or postings and does not on its own undertake editorial control of postings. However, in the event that any inappropriate posting is brought to the attention of Advocis we will take all appropriate action.
Copyright Infringement and Content Violations
If you believe that any content infringes a copyright that you own or control or if you are made aware of content that you believe violates these Terms and Conditions please send the Advocis Community Manager a summary of your concerns, either by email to communities@advocis.ca or by regular mail to:

Please note that if you knowingly give false, misleading, or inaccurate information regarding the existence of infringing Content, we may suspend your account, and you may face other legal consequences.
Jurisdiction
These Terms and Conditions will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without giving effect to the principles of conflicts of law and excluding the body of law applicable to choice of law. You irrevocably submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario for the purpose of any suit, action or other proceeding arising out of these Terms and Conditions. You hereby waive: (a) the right to trial by jury of any such suit, action or proceeding; (b) any right, claim or entitlement to any punitive or exemplary damages whatsoever; and (c) any right, claim or entitlement to participate in a class action relating to your usage of the Advocis Community or these Terms and Conditions. If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is held by a court of competent jurisdiction to be contrary to law, the provision will be deemed null and void, and the remaining provisions of these Terms and Conditions will remain in effect.
Trademarks
The Advocis word mark, our logo, and other marks used in the Advocis Community are owned by us and may not be used in any manner without our express prior written consent.
Changes To These Terms and Conditions
We may modify or update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. When we update these Terms and Conditions, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and post the new Terms and Conditions on https://community.advocis.ca/home. Your continued use of the Advocis Community (including, without limitation, signing up to receive content after an update) confirms your acceptance of the updated Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree to any update, you must stop using the Advocis Community. We may also modify or discontinue all or part of the Advocis Community at any time; charge, modify, or waive any fees required to use the Advocis Community. We may access, review, block, or delete content you submit to or post in the Advocis Community at any time and for any reason, including (i) to provide a better experience, modify and develop the Advocis Community, (ii) if we think such content violates any of these Terms and Conditions, and (iii) to comply with all applicable law or any request or requirement of a court, law enforcement or other administrative agency or governmental body.
